    Default act 235 cert Denial

    Hello All:-)

I was found "preliminarily not eligible" for act 235 certification due to my uncorrected vision. I need to request a hearing within 15 days, but not sure what to say. My vision uncorrected IS 20/200, but i wear contacts which corrects my vision to 20/20 from the time I get up to the time i go to sleep!

    Any suggestions/advice??

    Thank you!

I believe you've answered your own question, IIRC your better eye must be at least 20/70 uncorrected and your other eye must be at least 20/200.

    Lasik?!

    Good luck.

Vision surgery. Or learn the eye chart, there are only 2 in common use.

A friend of mine was denied for the same reason. He got Lasik and was able to obtain his ACT235.

From the Act 235 Physical Evaluation (SP8-200A) form:

VISION - The applicant must be able to read: at least 20/70,
uncorrected, in the stronger eye, correctable to 20/20; and
at least 20/200, uncorrected, in the weaker eye, correctable
to at least 20/40; and must be free of any significant visual
abnormality. CORRECTED VISION IS REQUIRED IF THE
UNCORRECTED VISION DOES NOT ALREADY MEET
    20/20, 20/40.

So you can be fat and out of shape but need good vision to be a rent-a-cop?

I have a quick follow up question for this issue. Does anyone know of a waver if you appeal the denial with a letter from your optometrist stating that he feels that your vision is not an issue. I know the FBI will wave uncorrected vision if you show 2 years of soft contact use without issue.
