Re: AR-15 trigger won't reset
I assembled the trigger group.
I literally meant just the trigger. This part:
The sides of that piece press hard against the wall of the lower, so I had to force it down. It doesn't just move freely inside the lower. If it's supposed to fit easily into the lower then that's bad... because mine doesn't.

Re: AR-15 trigger won't reset
Well it's supposed to fit with very little clearance, but you shouldn't have to tap her in with a mallet or anything.
Take the hammer out and see if the trigger will return on it's own when you pull it.
If it does, check that disconnector spring.
If it doesn't then you may need to dress up the edges of the trigger with a fine file, but this would be a first for me.

Re: AR-15 trigger won't reset
Well I just took everything apart and the disconnector spring was put in correctly. I have another lower at home that I measured to compare it with the Del-Ton lower that I'm having problems with.
The opening at the top where the trigger group is put into measures 0.687" and the other lower measures 0.700"
I put the trigger group into the other lower (a cheap DoubleStar) and not only did it fit easily without forcing it, but when I pulled the trigger and let go the trigger moved forward as expected.
I'm starting to think I might have an out of spec lower. Would filing the trigger to fit the slightly narrower lower be better (or at least not worse) than just returning the lower and getting a new one?
edited to add: Also, how hard will it be to completely disassemble the lower if I have to return it?Last edited by lexnaturalis; February 22nd, 2010 at 09:51 PM.

Re: AR-15 trigger won't reset
Since you used all Del-ton parts, I would send the whole assembled lower to them and let them fix whatever is wrong, it is after all their screw up going on what you are describing.
Sometimes fitting is required, but it sounds like you got some pieces that were passed over by quality control.

Re: AR-15 trigger won't reset
i guess it depends on if you bought the lower from another individual or from a dealer. what do you think?

Re: AR-15 trigger won't reset
I bought it directly from a dealer, so I'm the original owner
i say call them up and see if they can do anything to help you out.
