Northeastern Tactical Schools' Essentials of the Defensive Folding Knife will present self-defense methods and manipulations unique to the thumb-opening tactical folding knife, as well as improve the knife owner's understanding of the deadly force limitation with the folding knife. Class includes:

• The Magliato drill – How far is too far
• Valuable features for a self-defense folder
• Unconventional folding knife carries
• Unconventional folding knife draws
• Unconventional folding knife grips
• Blood borne pathogens and knife defense skills
• Unconventional folding knife targets
• Single attacker drills
• Multiple attacker drills
• Knife retention drills
• Knife skills against front, side and rear attacks
• Third party rescue skill drills
• The folding knife as handgun retention tool
• Knife fighting beyond knife range
• Silent knife opening skills
• Empty hands against edged weapons
• Knife skills against impact weapons
• Knife skills against edged weapons
• Knife skills against firearms
This class is perfect for both the lawfully armed individual who is currently carrying a self-defense folding knife and the responsible citizen who is considering the folding knife as a self-defense option.
Tuition: $275 (Note: a $125 tuition deposit is required)
Essentials of the Defensive Folding Knife
Equipment List:
• Your current personal folding knife (Optional only)
• Inert “dummy” handgun (Optional only)
• Strong side holster (Optional only)
• A good quality (thick) belt
• Pants suitable for rough play (No blue jeans please)
• Eye protection
• Athletic Supporter and cup (Optional only)
• 3-ring notebook, paper and pen
• Lunch, beverages/water and snacks (Lunch is a working lunch)
• Note – All other necessary training knives and props will be provided
Include a copy of your driver's license and only one the following:
• Proof of License to Carry Firearms or
• Proof of good character from a licensed, practicing attorney

Michael de Bethencourt is a nationally recognized defensive revolver, weapons disarming-retention trainer, and an internationally recognized tactical folding knife instructor trainer.
