FWIW... there is a guy in Pottstown PA, just off Rt100 that builds race cars and does specialty welding. The shop name is "Ed Quay Race Cars".

I don't have a number for him, but he's been around for years and is a magician with a welder. Many years ago I took him a transmission with a broken bellhousing. It was cast aluminum and was broken in a bunch of pieces like an egg shell.

He pieced it back together like a jigsaw puzzle and welded it up as good as new. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes.

buy another lower , even if it does get TIG welded it wont look as good as a newer lower , there will be alot of bumps and imperfections where the broken lower is after its welded.

Here are some pictures. What do you think? Can it be fixed and how much would it cost?

    Thanks

The hammer pin hole looks worn too...

Heck... I'd throw it on the boards for sale and see what someone offers. Some people like to buy projects like that.

I don't think it would be a big deal to weld... but by the time you pay to have it done, along with the refinishing work needed to look right, you will have more in it than it's worth.

If it were me, I'd probably just sell it off... or put it back together with some really good epoxy and just use it as a beater gun.

Sorry to sidetrack the thread... but I used some really awesome epoxy on my Grand National... The stuff is like liquid steel... and holds the stainless nitrous fogger nozzle in my aluminum up-pipe. I can't remember what brand it was... maybe loctite or permatex... but I got it at Autozone and it worked great. It's even a dark charcoal color.

Obviously it's not the correct way to fix it... but it may be OK just to get the gun together as a beater.

That's what I was saying...once you factor in shipping and labor cost...it would make more sense to just sell it as is to someone in a ban state. I don't keep up with preban items, but I just cannot see how that would be worth it to someone living in a "free" state such as PA.

You aren't gonna get much for that, lowers being $90-150 in PA...I'd throw $40-50 out there maybe more if I didn't have a pre-ban already. I would grind it down and epoxy or have an aluminum Magpul trigger guard welded in place.

Try ARFcom EE/Classifieds. Just make sure you make it clear that its messed up. Someone will find a home for a pre-ban.

The way that piece came off its going to be a bitch to weld it back on. I get stuff like this done for free and my guy wouldnt even touch that.
