Anyone Else Carrying Fake Badges?

So I've been giving open carry a try for the past two or three weeks, and seeing another Ocer at my local 7-11 yesterday, I figured I'd give him props for taking what appears to be a rare step in this area, given I've never seen another person OCing here other than police. Weirdness ensued instantly...

The gentleman was pleasant, but advised me to get a "badge", whereupon he presented a semi-official looking "bail bondsman" badge, which he claims to present to fearful citizens to quiet their concerns about his open carrying of a firearm. I didn't know what to say at that point, so I'm just wondering if this is something that other people who open carry have done at some point or are doing presently? This was in Morrisville, BTW.

No, I don't carry a badge real or fake. Sounds to me like this guy has some "badge envy" or something. IMHO this is a very bad idea.

was he carrying a Serbu Shorty, while OCing an AK pistol with an orange tip?

no one in their right mind who OCs, and is not LEO, would ever do that nonsense.

In Texas the laws are different one being you can't carry a firearm into a bar or any business that gets 51% or more of their revenue from alcohol sales so....that included places like TGI Fridays etc....I remember a few years ago someone coming around to pitch the idea of getting your "Bail Enforcement" license/badge to get around that law....BAD IDEA!!! The police had no sense of humor about these "Bail Enforement" licenses/badges being used!...

I would have to guess that OC'ing and flashing any kind of badge could only get the wrong people pissed off and lead to trouble.....

This one just boils down to the gentleman in question being a moron. Carrying a badge that has no direct correlation to who you are or what you do is just immature - I remember doing the same thing when I was 6 years old.

Now, if he is a bail bondsman, fine, but it doesn't justify or explain him carrying a weapon above and beyond the simple right for him to do so. A normal Joe on the street wouldn't know either of those things anyway.
