Shotgun Transportation
I am 19 and just bought a Remington 870 synthetic deer for next years hunting season. I live at home and my mother refuses me to bring my gun into the house. Is it legal for me to keep it in my car unloaded and in a soft case or a locked hard case?
Thanks

Re: Shotgun Transportation
Any chance you can make a deal with your mother? Something along the lines of no ammo in the house and a trigger lock. Maybe throw in that your taking a hunter safety course.
I'm assuming you didn't clear this with her beforehand and that may be a big part of the problem. If she's unfamilar with guns, or against them in general making it as safe as possible and explaining the purpose of the shotgun may ease her mind.
Keeping it in the car is legal but inadvisable. It's bad for the gun and easy for a thief. Once a friend or two learn of it, it's a matter of time before others know too. Other than your own house, a trusted friend (key word here, trusted) is your next best option. And still keep a lock on it.When the SHTF......be the fan.
