    Default here's an idea......

hey guys (and girls) i have an idea - somewhere in one of the threads i was reading, i came across a thread that mentioned something about a t.v. commercial explaining firearms and firearms rights would be a good thing. it got me to thinking - why couldn't we make that a reality? maybe make an advertisement to explain to our fellow pennsylvanians about their rights and why our rights should not be infringed? show them how responsible gun ownership is safe and a good idea? something along those lines.......... it's not like this organization wouldn't have the resources - collectively, we have all kinds of talent and i'm sure we could come up with the finances for this kind of thing....... this organization has ALOT of potential - it'd be nice to see us all do something more than chat on the forums and write our representative's when we don't agree with things......... what if we went on the offensive a little bit more?

I'm just brainstorming and i'd like to get all of your thoughts and opinions - am i way off here? or what do you all think?

i think t.v. would be awesome - especially if you could attach it to someone's political campaign...........

If you guys organize something like this, I could direct the commercial. I've done this before, for television and trade shows. I'd do graphics, editing, sound and oversee the video shoot.

Now, to run a commercial on TV, you are a looking at an average of $10k to $30k per 15 second spot, PER time the ad shows. Unless you want to run it on channel 496 on a Sunday at 2 in the morning.

I'd say for this purposes, unless you have a ton of money (literally), it might be better to take out full page ads in local papers, such as Philadelphia Weekly, Metro or local magazines.

that's the reason i wanted other people's input - i knew commercials were expensive, but that's crazy - now if we could get it attached to someone running for office somewhere, we might be able to get a little funding from that direction, because God knows they have more than enough money to spread around if it helps them get elected..........

The best way to run tv ads is through cable ad net. They can put commercials on local channels for a fraction of the national broadcast commercial costs. I used to run local cable ad net ads when I was a mobile DJ...

I guess we would also need a ultra handsome hunky model type with a great personality and stage presence as a spokesman. Oh yea, he would need to be very smart yet humble too!

Ok, ok I'll do it just please don't beg. Most importantly, I'll work for ammo!

Billboards would work better than newspapers, your targeting people who usually dont read the paper.

When I made the suggestion, I was thinking of something more visible, like ads on buses or billboards, something that you glance at, and it sticks. unless it has humor or a jingle to it, TV spots dont stick.

Heck, passing out flyers and letting the general public know would be a good idea.

Maybe a town hall type meeting in some of the worse off neighborhoods... heck I always thought it would be a good idea to have mossberg sponsor a program to arm seniors for reduced rates with a good 12ga.

Only problem there is you'd be competing with me for the spokesman spot - that could get messy........ lol. As for me, I work for guns - ammo does you no good without a gun - at least a gun with no ammo can be thrown or used as a club...........LOL

Good idea, but I don't think it will work. Most stations will not run an ad that is offensive to even a small percentage of people. They are in business to make money and pissing off their other advertisers would be a bad idea. That is why you do not see TV ads for porno or adult products.

Newspapers. Again, most other businesses would not want their ad in the same section or even the same paper as the ad you described. The paper would never run it.

A billboard would be easier to get approved, but billboards are tough as a stand-alone advertising media. To explain our position, we would need a lot of words. A lot of words on a billboard = unreadable.

Again, I think it is a great idea and support it 100%. I just don't think it will work.

Oh, yeah, I work in advertising.
