South of the Border - Taco Bell story
Stopped by Taco Bell in Clarks Summit for some edibles. And because my brother works there and I get a "discount". Call it a "Cop Taco" for OC
I walk in and the place is empty but for a couple in there (at a guess) 50s browsing the menu. They order and I am still looking when the woman says to her husband
"Oh look at that guys hat! Isnt it neat? Its covered in guns!"
I bought a black beanie with white silhouetted guns of all types on it, and the tag says "The Right to Keep and Bear Arms" tickled me pink so I bought it even though it looks... wierd.
The husband glanced at me and said "He is probably one of those guns rights activists."
I was taken by surprise so I gave him a huge grin and says "Yes sir, thats exactly what I am, very good guess." I pointed to my brother behind the counter, "Thats my brother and he's had to put up with my obsession for a long time."
He asked if that means I got an employee discount and the manager, who was waiting on us, gave a big NO, and my brother grinned at me over her head and nodded 'Yes!' which made the guy laugh again. He then told me if I didnt get the discount I could pluck one of those guns off my hat and just hold the place up for free tacos.
This soured it for me. Why do people make comments like this? The more I thought about it the more irritated I got. I cant even see how as a rude joke it would be funny. Just rude.Millions for defense, Not one cent for tribute!

Re: South of the Border - Taco Bell story
And I have the right to say all black folks are criminals, and if they dont have a record now they will some day. If I actually believed that its one thing, but to say it to there face without thinking about it is another thing entirely.
I see it on here alot, an OCer it out somewhere and someone jokes "OMG run! They are going to kill us all!" or something to that effect. What extremely poor taste that is. I wasnt complaining about his freedom of speech.

Re: South of the Border - Taco Bell story
We obviously can't detect tone or inflection through the intertubes... but it sounds like the guy was joking.

I would have said "Doing something stupid like that would land me in jail, where I can't be an advocate for gun rights anymore."

Thats actually a pretty good come back. I didnt say anything more. I got my food and sat down, and took off my jacket. They sat on the other side of the resteraunt with a divider between us.
His tone was neutral, so it could have been either way, but im inclined to agree, it was a joke. Just not a good one :/Millions for defense, Not one cent for tribute!

Re: South of the Border - Taco Bell story
I agree, what he said was of no use, and not funny. But people say some pretty inane things all the time. He not being of any "gun culture" actually thinks he said something new and amusing. Brush it off, we can't teach them all.
On a side note...doncha' love it when someone asks a question with the intention of actually learning something and taking a look at this side of the debate? One good question or comment equals 10 bad ones. When the SHTF......be the fan.
