No Till Food Plot?
Does anyone have any experience using a no-till food plot seed? I want to plant a 1/2 to 1 acre plot but the location won't allow for equipment. Also it will primarily for deer and to hunt over if that changes the type of seed I should use.
Any help is greatly appreciated!Manus Haec Inimica Tyrannis

Re: No Till Food Plot?
Did you get a soil test yet? The results will indicate what you can plant and successfully grow.
Red Clover can be frost seeded. In early spring when the ground is freezing at night and thawing during the day, spread the seed around in the early AM (think sunrise) and the freeze/thaw will work it into the ground. Rye would be a good one to seed in the late summer/early fall, it will germinate and grow just about anywhere. It will provide 'green' until covered with snow. Not sure about the brassicas, I know they're a favorite for fall food plots but my experience is all farm crops.

When I tried this the plot grew quickly and well, However the deer ate it all before it grew into anything to hunt over. The plants never grew past about 2 inches unitl the deer got there.
