I have not yet handled a 4th gen, but I really like teh 3rd gen grip.

Ofcourse, my opinion might change once I shoot a 4th gen.

I will be buying a new Glock this summer, so hopefully I will be able to shoot a 4th gen before then.

I have handled a new Gen 4 Glock 22 and I think there is a significant difference in the grip.

The Gen 4 felt more like a 1911 grip to me and a lot less than the typical Glock like grip. I own three Glocks and several 1911's, have shot numerous models, and one of my own is the G22 RTF which I LOVE. The Gen 4 grip with the stippling, new grip design changes, and backstrap adjustment made me want to purchase one on the spot.

I would like to shoot one first but I would expect that I would like it.

IMO the downfall of a Glock in the past was the grip itself. Too blocky and big for my hand. Love the Glock, hated the grip. Started off with the compact models so I could compromise. I may not have to compromise now and can get a few full size duty models without the PIA grip style.

I was hoping the Gen 4 grip was smaller allowing for me to easily drop the mag without switching my grip. I could just barely do it. Just like my Gen 3 with an extended mag release. Maybe if they come out with a Glock 34 Gen 4 with extended controls I'll pick one up. Until then I'll stick with my Gen 3.

You couldn't reach it with the new mag release button & the small insert? No offense but you have some very short thumbs.

I can hit it but it doesn't feel much better than mine with an extended release. Put it this way, It didn't feel $530 better than my Gen 3.

I agree completely! I like the feel of the Gen 4s well enough but not enough to trade my Gen 3s.

But if you had neither one, which would you buy? Gen 4 or Gen 3?

    I haven't seen a Gen 4 19 yet so....

As for a 17.....I'd probably go for the Gen 4. I like the subdued RTF and finger grooves a bit better.
