I got some new grips for GP100, and a question.
I bought a set of Stag grip inserts from Krssteel. I had bought the factory full size grips a year ago, but never got any inserts.
The full size grip feels so much better than the compact grips.
The question I have is, does stag grip denote a particular animal, or just any antlered animal?

"Stag" grips are a design look, not necessarily a material. Some makers use antler material from Elk and the like, others use plastic. The "Stag" type grips are variable in material. If you know the original manufacturer, check their website to see what they make the grip panels out of. Typically the stag grips made of real antler material are in excess of 100 USD, usually in the 150 dollar range.
For a fancy holster check out simplyrugged.com I favor the sourdough. It is not ornate, but it is unique, tough as nails and very high quality. All that for about 60 USD is not a bad deal. There is also the loaded sourdough with bullet loops on the holster. Here is the URL:

Very nice.
I've been doing a LOT of holster researching the last few weeks and the best looking holsters I've seen are from Mernickle. You can get a plain leather one that is still very clean and good looking or you can get very ornate patterns and exotic materials.

Man, as if I didn't already miss my old GP100 enough.. those new grips are very impressive. They give the gun a whole new look. sigh.. I want too many guns.
