GLOCK 34 OR A CZ 85 COMBAT ???
Looking to purchase my first handgun in 9mm.
tried 9 different 9mm's and have a budget of $1000 aus
i like the glock 34,as here in australia we need a barrel length of 120mm.
but today i fired 100 rds through a brand spanking new cz 85 combat.
now im unsure.
ive searched this forum and still need a vote
34 or 85??
cheers

Even though I prefer the G19 or G17 in 9mm, of the two you listed, I would choose the Glock over the CZ.

You're going to get a lot of Glock responses here simply because more people own the Glock versus the CZ.
I have a G35, but a CZ with a couple spring changes is just as good.
I'd say go with whatever grip angle fits you better.

Re: GLOCK 34 OR A CZ 85 COMBAT ???
I think both are good quality guns so reliability wouldn't be an issue. Consider these things:
Glock- Polymer frame has a sharper felt recoil, striker fired DAO trigger, no external safety, lighter weight. needs virtually no maintenance to prevent rusting.
CZ- Steel frame recoil is different, feels more like a push I guess, has DA/SA trigger so you have to get used to both, has external safety and the gun is heavier, may need to be oiled and cleaned to keep from rusting.
What would make me choose the Glock is the consistant trigger pull and no external safety (except trigger safety) so you can just draw and fire without the extra step of turning off the safety. Now as far as accuracy I would think the CZ would be better, but I can't confirm that. Maybe someone else on here could let you know about that. If this is strictly a target/bullseye gun it would all come down to trigger and accuracy for me.Any vote for a third party is a vote for a Democrat. You are the enemy.

Re: GLOCK 34 OR A CZ 85 COMBAT ???
My first choice would be a G35 with a Bar Sto 9mm conversion bbl.
However, between the G34 and the CZ 85 Combat, I have to pick the CZ. I've had a CZ 85 Combat for several years now, and its the only handgun that goes to the range with me every time. My Glocks are close runner-ups."He was born with the gift of laughter and a sense that the world was mad."

Both are great guns, so whatever you shoot better and feel more comfortable shooting.

You can never have enough horsepower or ammunition.

I like the g34, really accurate and with a ghost rocket trigger kit its really nice. The thing that turns me away from the cz is the single/double action.

It depends on what the guns will be used for - self defense/personal carry , home defense, camping, hiking, , all that makes a difference, also youre dealing with 2 different schools of thought, light polymer striker fired, and metal , d/a /sa/ hammere fired etc.
I own 3 Glocks and 3 CZ's and i like them both, you will be well served by anyone you chose.

Re: GLOCK 34 OR A CZ 85 COMBAT ???
cheers for the speedy replies.
im going back to the range early next week to try both together as a direct comparison.
the cz trigger pull is definately long
the g34 feels lightweight
im looking for mainly range firing usage, with a little w/end outdoor time.
if both are reliable should i consider 2nd hand or just by new and keep it,as i never sell any firearms, because i bought them because i like them!
before you all say it.
i should probably buy both but i can only defend the purchase of one handgun this year and its only february.
any thoughts??
cheers

Re: GLOCK 34 OR A CZ 85 COMBAT ???
I'm not a big fan of second hand pistols, only because I don't know how they were cared for. Another issue is when people modify the gun (although that's usually pretty obvious to me).
If you plan on modifying the gun yourself, the Glock will be cheaper and you can change sights and such with some very basic tools.
