I'm new to this
I'm a soldier from fort drum new york. I lived in williamsport. I'm going to get a licence to carry a firearm when i go on leave from Iraq in a couple months. I have a few questions i hope someone can answer.
1. in pa with the open carry laws can you just carry a gun on you at all times, not as in like when you go to a restaurant or bar but during travel and around like shopping or something similar?
2. with the concealed permit, what is considered concealed?
3. can your weapon be loaded will your carrying it or while it's concealed?
4. where can you not carry a concealed weapon in pa?

Re: I'm new to this
Pa has a "Liscence to Carry Firearms" not a "Concealed Weapons Permit" Per se. If you're gonna carry in the open, you do not need a LTCF, so long as you are on foot. However, if you enter a vehicle you need a LTCF. So, in my opinion its a concealed permit as you also must have this LTCF to carry concealed.
Yes the weapon can be loaded, you can carry into bars, resturants and so forth. The lsit of "No carry" spots can be found on the sticky at the top of the page.
As far as I know, concealed means "Totally Concealed" when we're talking about the weapon being on your person. If you were to say tuck your weapon into your waistband and all that was visible was the very end of the grip, you're still open carrying.

Welcome to PAFOA, and thanks for your service!
Some answers below, in RED...
With your LTCF (License To Carry Firearms), yes. Get your LTCF. It clears MANY hurdles.
With your LTCF, concealed is rather casual. You are NOT REQUIRED to conceal, and you may still Open Carry.
Yes, you may carry loaded, one in the chamber (unlike California, for example)
Very few places. See these Stickies, found at the top of the OC/CC forums...

I'll be very surprised if these two don't answer ALL your questions. Also check out the many links contained within.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: I'm new to this
It gets worse. In some parts of Kali (not sure which exactly) where you can open carry, you must have an unloaded chamber, AND you must carry the magazine separately!
As to the point? Ask the lib-tard anti's out there writing the laws, but be careful. We got some pretty stupid ones right here in PA.While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.
