Burris compensating scope
http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2010...iple-tasers/4/
Burris has built one of the most sophisticated rifle scopes we’ve ever seen. It has a laser rangefinder that can automatically adjust your sights to compensate for the fall of each bullet over long distances. Just point the crosshairs at the target, push a button on the side of the scope, and a bright red dot will show you exactly where the bullet will fall. We were able to easily hit targets at 400 and 700 meters without any experience at long-range rifle shooting. The scope has one hiccup: It has a hard time judging the distances of targets that are solid black.

Re: Burris compensating scope
That's the new ELIMINATOR a second generation optical tool from Burris that's greatly enhanced both in operational controls & accuracy.
Accurate rifles, triggers, ammo & optics have brought us to the point where if shots are missed....the problem is in the mirror.
Ever wonder why laser bore sighters use a semi reflective target?
All laser type ranging devices have some trouble with black objects that have a flat or matte finish. Black being the 'absence of light' easily absorbs the entire light spectrum so a true read is a bit harder.
Simple solution is to range a brighter colored-shiny object.
Even black matte scopes get hotter internally which can play havoc w/accurate adjustments & viewing. Differnet materials will expand-contract at different tempatures & rates causing internal problems.
