    Default PA Convention Center CC

    Hey everyone,

I did a search on this but could only find information from a couple of years ago, and I wanted to ensure that I got the most up-to-date information possible.

Im going to be traveling to the PA Convention Center tomorrow in Philadelphia for the auto show. We will be taking the SEPTA train to get there. Now I know that CC is legally permitted on SEPTA, but I was wondering if maybe any of you all had alreadyattended this years auto show, and if anyone knows whether or not they are using metal detectors or wands this year. I'd hate to get there and then be turned around at the gate. If anyone has any information, thatd be great. Thanks much.

Nothing I've been to at the Convention Center lately has involved metal detectors. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

    Enjoy the show!

Agreed. Nothing at the Home Show, I doubt they will have them.

I sort of hate to even ask this question but who actually owns the PA Convention Center? I think that the PA tax payers, that would be us, paid out hundreds of millions of $$ to build the place. Is it not a public, government owned facility? As such are they allowed to banned concealed carry there or could it be banned if they lease part of the facility out for a week for a specific show like the auto show?

I have carried concealed there in the past without issues and I am NOT suggesting that they are banning concealed carry there now.

i go to the Convention Center many times through out the year and you have nothing to worry about. No wands, metal detectors, or pat downs.

Went today and CC'd. No metal detectors, pat downs, or anything else.

I did see a few Philly LEOs arround the show, but that was about it.

I did not see any 'no gun' signs on site or anything posted on the Convention Center web page.

    John (and everyone else too),

I went today as well while CCing. Same experience, no issues. There were two Philly officers at the main ticket gate, but nothing else, including other entrances. Good to know for the future. And thanks to everyone else also for your responses.

I work First Aid at the convention center sometimes... and have been around for the Auto Show.

I'm gonna assume that OC'ing will result in a negative interaction with the powers that be (not my department, LOL). If properly concealed, and no one knows... no one will know. There are no metal detectors or bag searches for most events.

In the years I've been doing this, only event I've ever seen metal detectors, searches, and bag searches for was a tattoo convention that seemed to attract a lot of "biker types" - I saw a few folks wearing Pagan "colors" inside... so it probably wasn't a horrible idea. It was also one of the most polite groups of people I've ever seen

As for this year's auto show - It's a little smaller, and somewhat less flashy than usual... but if you are into cars... they are still putting on a decent show.
