Default what to do with mossberg 590

I have a 12ga mossberg 590 for home defense, with just a plain old stock and pump, pretty standard and boring. I would really like something more tactical, like this http://www.innovativetactical.com/ca...3a7c84s410.jpg

My question, should I buy the pistol grip and all the diff parts separately, and put it all together...or should i just trade what I got and buy a new one. Home defense shotguns are pretty cheap these days, i could probably trade and get a new one with all the bells and whistles for an additional 300 max im thinking....by the time i pay for shipping and stuff, the diff wouldnt be huge.

Im a total shotgun noob too, i dont even know a good site to find what parts would fit my mossy. Plus it would be an experiment taking it fully apart, i never did that before.

I just put a simple Knoxx non-recoil reducing stock on mine and it made it a whole new gun!

In the end, do what you want with it...what ever you are comfortable with!

    But is it functional?

Why? What benefit does that config/accessories afford you?

Maybe your money would be better spent on training? You have a perfectly capable platform, as is, learn to use it first then customize to fit your informed (by trianing and actual use) preferences rather than what looks cool.

I vote for "go" not the "show." The steak is always better then the sizzle. etc...

Making it look cool add no utility whatsoever. My bone stock 590 marine works great as is. Adding a plastic this or a picatinny that will add no additional effectiveness.

Save the money for ammo and practice, practice and practice some more.

Ok the "tacticool" is part of the equation, but seriously a nice pistol grip, new forgrip, maybe a light....that stuff really would help if you ever needed to use the gun for defense. There is a reason swat teams dont run around with hunting shotguns. Speed, ease of use, functionality...all those things can be improved upon over a basic, bare bones shotty....IMO
