    Default want a new pistol.

Looking for a new pistol to CC. I have a all steel p229 now. New gun must be lighter. I would like it to be in .40 just to have the same ammo, but that isnt set in stone. I would like it to hold at least 8 rds...10+ would be better. I would like it to be under 600$ out the door. I would like it to have or at least have nite sights available for it. Trying to think of something alot lower in price then a single stack SIG. It needs to be able to take some abuse and weather. No .380.
    So, any Ideas?

Glock 23 would be my first suggestion. Actually, that would probably be my only suggestion given your criteria.
You can never have enough horsepower or ammunition.

Get a GLOCK. You know you want one. MP Smith if you don't like the Glock grip.

i have the P226 and my father has a P229. but i just got a Smith and Wesson M&P Compact to CC with because the Sig 226 is sometimes a bit too large.
i went with the 9mm but the 40 cal version is 10+1, weighs 21 ounces (10 ounces lighter but not too light its going to flip bad), and can be had brand new at most places for $550. you can also get night sights for about $70, and if all else fails, a laser. it will take some abuse and weather in stride.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

I second the Glock 23 option, or even the Glock 27.

With the 27, you'll get 9+1 capacity, various options of aftermarket accessories that you've mentioned, and the ability to buy conversion barrels to change it to 9mm for cheaper target practice.

I think either choice would be great for yourself.

If you are looking to go 9mm, I would go with the Glock 19/26 (as I have)...

    Glock 23 or Glock 27.

I have had no issues with my 23. Either one would fit the bill.

    Glock 23

    S&W M&P

    XD .40

All three of these are reliable guns and are close to your price range, its just up to you to decide on the one you like best.

    Good luck with your choice.

I would go with the XD40. I know there are a lot of Glock fans out there but since I have never had any experience with them I wouldn't suggest one. I own the XD40 and I love it.

I ended up trying to decide between the Glock 23 and 27. I went with the 27 after getting my hands on one with the grip extension. I liked the smaller size of the 27, but hated only getting my middle and ring finger on the grip.. with the extension the pinky gets on there as well.

I have the Pearce extensions. One is no capacity addition..just makes the grip "one finger longer". The other is an extension and +2 capacity adder (so the 9 round mag becomes a 11 round mag) I carry with the extension only in (it's by far the most comfortable for me) and the +2 as a backup.

I added a pic (sorry for the horrible quality... came from my cell and I had to adjust the brightness and contrast to try to eliminate a bit of the shadow) to show the extensions. The extension only is in and the +2 is next to it.

M&P40C is also a very good handgun. I avoided the XD because of the chunkiness.
