Re: Bore Snake
Yes, do it all the time myself.
One of the best "recent inventions" for guns that is actually worth a damn. I hope who ever invented bore-snakes makes a mint off them.
Only bad thing about them over the years I have heard of is the pull strings snapping and the snake getting stuck in the bore.
Pull nice and easy and watch for fraying on the pull string."Disperse you Rebels! Damn you! Throw down your Arms and Disperse!" British Major Pitcairn at Lexington April 19, 1775

Please Note: The poster was issued a warning for this post.
Seriously? You do know that you fire copper jacketed lead slugs in excess of the speed of sound by detonating volatiles behind them through that barrel right? And you're worried about pulling a tube of cloth with some brass bits sticking out through that same barrel?
And about the pullcord fraying, yeah, they're not that expensive to replace. And make sure the snake doesn't have any kinks/twists/knots in it before you pull it through. You don't want to end up one of ARFcom's monthly "I got a patch/Otis/boresnake stuck in my bore" posters. If you do though be sure to let me know, I always get a good laugh out of those threads.Warning: I may not read responses to OP before posting

Re: Bore Snake
They are safe to use.
On the other hand, how do you clean a Bore Snake? I wouldn't want to use one if it's covered in grime from the last cleaning.

"The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?

Re: Bore Snake
I never had the opportunity to read a Bore Snake's instruction manual, but I would imagine that my wife would be extremely vocal about my placing it in the washer. Sounds like a good product though. I've seen them for sale just about everyplace that sells guns/accessories.
