These wacky wacky Britts!!
It is reported that 50% of people in London are worried about security and sleep with some form of self-defence to hand, for use against intruders.
The ‘Safe Bedside Table’ has a removable leg that acts as a club and a top that doubles as a shield for self-defence. This is for people who are willing to take on an intruder, providing an extra sense of security whilst in bed.
I wonder how long until they ban furniture??==============
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
~Samuel Adams
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it."
~Thomas Jefferson, 1791

Stylish...and yet innovative....damn shame it has come to this for our friends across the pond though.

Brits are great I don't think a wooden shield would be too useful, though, minus a medevil attacker.
Curious...if someone got in trouble for using pepperspray...How much trouble would you get in for beating someone with this? Its MADE to do bodily injury!

The "club" looks kinda short and pretty useless. I dunno, I think if I were a robber I'd just pee myself laughing so hard at seeing someone disassembling a nightstand and trying to use it for protection.

How long until they go back to wearing chain mail? Honest to God...political correctness run wild. I always liked the U.K. and it would have been the top of the list if I were to ever want to move to a different country. However, making it politically incorrect (and possibly illegal) to protect yourself and your family is too much. Pretty soon, Iraq will be a safer place!
