Unhappy Why? All SW PGC ranges are closed

On the web site it shows that all the SW regions public ranges are closed until further notice.

    They don't say why.

Weird.... I'm glad I read this, I was thinking about going to the Wexford one tommorow. I guess it's finally time to join a club now that GPGC is closed (again).

Angry Re: Why? All SW PGC ranges are closed

This past Friday, the one in Wexford said it was closed until Aug. 30. No reason, just closed for 2 weeks. Weird.

I went up to the wexford one on Friday and found that it was closed. They have a bunch of backhoes and other equipment there. Looked like they're redoing the backstops. I read something online after searching (should have saved the link) that they're changing the setup so you can't see the sky. Something about a long roof over the benches and a RR tie wall that will prevent idiots from shooting in the air.

just a heads-up. I caught this on the Post Gazette. Looks like a lot of ranges are closed for lead removal.

That is a good reason to shut them down for a few weeks. I think the Game Commission should have put a notice on the range page explaining the reason for the temporary closure. No one would have complained about the down time needed for the lead clean up work.

I agree, it would have been nice if they stated the reason. It also would have been nice if the ranges were only closed during active remediation. Rather than shutting down nearly ever range in the entire state.

    Poor management IMHO, at best.

They didn't shut down all the ranges in the state... Only that region but you are correct, poor management.

While you are correct that it is not all ranges. It appears most of the the southern ranges - both southwest (Pittsburgh) and southeast (York/Harrisburg) are closed.

The range here outside Indiana has been closed over two and a half months now.
