    Default Gun CLeaning

i finally got around to getting a work bench to clean my guns.

I need some tips and ideas. I need a Ar-15 cleaning kit, a gun mat, and a list of tools I would usually need for cleaning and assembling/disassembling sights, stocks, etc. Any insight would be great!

That's a nice bench. I wouldn't mind picking something like that up myself.

As far as a cleaning kit, I don't use anything fancy. I have a simple field cleaning kit like this for both my AR-15's and AR-10. It's nice and compact with everything you need, so you can just toss it in your range bag and off you go.

Most tools will do....some firearms have specific tools to accomplish certain things...like your AR type tools, FAL sight adjustment/gas regulator adjustment, SKS/AK sight tools.

The most important thing is a good set of Hollow Ground Screwdrivers...you will kick yourself in the ass after buggering up a slotted screwhead with a chinese screwdriver.

Forster also makes a good set:http://www.forsterproducts.com/store...36&catid=19938

I went to k-mart and bought a yoga/pilates foam mat for 10 bux and cut it up into various sized gun mats. works great!...actually, it was big enough that it could probably cover the entire top of your new bench!
