5.56/.223 pistol options
Ok, looking into a 5.56x45 pistol ala GRoPA's flamethrower. Obviously the Bushmaster Carbon 15 Type 97 is a strong player. I love the looks of the fluted barrel as opposed to a shrouded barrel. Bud's has them for ~715. What other companies should I consider? When I get one, it will probably end up with some sort of halo/red dot sight on it, if possible.
What should I consider here? General opinions on AR pistols? Things to avoid?
As I said at the last shoot when Carolyn picked up GRoPA's flamethrower, there goes my bank account!
Edit to add: Pink grips, optional??Last edited by Lucas; August 18th, 2007 at 02:47 PM.

Re: 5.56/.223 pistol options
I would stay away from the bushmaster kaboom 15 i mean carbon 15
you see them blown up quite often over at AR15.com
i built my AR pistol with a DPMS kitty kat upper 7.5 inch barrel chrome lined 1/9 twist
i have a noveske brake on it which tames it alot. i have a YHM 4 rail hand guard STD front sight, DPMS rear sight and a superior arms "pistol only" lower.

i'd get a carbon 15 some of the others are to big, the one futon posted isnt much smalle than a full size AR, the keltec isnt to easy on the eyes; and i dont think it accepts ar15mags.. fits got size, weight, and looks IMO and i'd bet any blow ups are from idiots using the bigger loads that need atleast a 1:9 barrel

I love my double star lower/JandE 10.5" upper pistol, just wish I would have started off with the 7.5!
It's really one of the most fun guns that I have to shoot, and damn accurate too! Also, the damn thing could get run over by a brigade of trucks and would still shoot, extremely solid gun.

i can't believe the size of some of those "pistols" they're huge, even compared to the carbon 15 type 97.. now if you could put a stock on it it'd wet my pants... but i'd assume thats illegal?!
