    My bold added:

Good that you realize you need more info about one of your choices. I made the mistake of buying a gun I did not know much about. Well that is not completely true; I knew all there was to know from a research standpoint BUT I never compared it to other choices HEAD TO HEAD, IN HAND TO IN HAND, RANGE TEST TO RANGE TEST. See a portion from a previous post about what happened:

....Glock...was the first carry weapon I ever purchased so I:
-read all that I could about many guns
    -compared many stats
-chose the caliber I wanted at the time
-found a store that had one whose customer service I was impressed with
    -Fondled it
    -Bought it on the spot
MISTAKE #1 Having handled ONLY 1 pistol I had no clue what a good grip felt like. The Glock was a bit chunk for my hand to get a PROPER GRIP! I did not know because I only touched 1 gun. DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE!

Within the past year I was shopping for another gun to add to the collection (I sold the Glock many years ago). I was thinking about the newer Glocks from the SL line or the GAP line hoping that they would fit my hand better than the chunky Glocks.

I went to the store and began fondling a couple Glocks. They still were not quite right. Something was off. I was prepared to plop money down right then and there had they felt right but it was not to be.

As I handed the last Glock back to the clerk I mentioned the hand fit to him and he said HERE TRY THIS. The XD fit MY HAND PERFECTLY.

I next put on the Centre County sight a request to meet and shoot someones XD and I would share what I had to shoot. http://forum.pafoa.org/centre-50/561...un-scotia.html (Thanks to "Try another members gun" at Scotia.)

Felt good - Shot good in my hand. Went back and bought it.

SO----->Hold MANY to get a feeling for what fits your hand well
-------->Shoot the ones you like the feel of
    -------->Shop and Buy
Notice that when I bought the XD I did it differently. For me - I will try to always test fire the guns I have an interest in. Many ranges rent guns. Ask other members in your area to meet you at a range, buy a box of shells for all the guns you will be trying and have fun.

JMHO - You may be luckier than I was, but think about it

if you can afford the FN57 then buy it i would buy that then the choices you said, its a very good pistol doesnt have much recoil and has better follow up shots then a 9mm.

Yeah the guy said on the phone that the recoil is like between a .22lr and a .22 mag.

What is the round compared to?
How well do they hold up?
How easy is it to get ammo?
What kind of damage does the round do?

I own one and I would consider it to be like a 22mag for recoil. The round is a 40 grain V-max Hornady .223 bullet. Basicly a very light AR-15 round. Ive shot over 1k rounds through mine and it is still like new. Ammo is available at most better gun shops ( Only made by FN that I know of at this time). Last time I checked at Cabela's 1k rounds of 5.7 was cheaper than normal .223 ammo. But still expect about 24 bucks a box of 50 no matter where ya go. Follow up shots are very easy. Gun performance is just great IMHO. 30 round mag conversions available too. As for damage it makes a smaller hole in paper than most other hanguns but has almost twice the muzzle velocity. Cant say I've ever hit anything other than paper targets with mine. If you were in this area Id be more than happy to let ya shoot it. If ya got the cash its definately worth it. Ive also heard some rumors through the grapevine that after the whole Fort Hood disaster ( May all those souls rest in peace) that this gun is being heavily considered to become listed as a destructive device. Again this is only a rumor. May be worth it to get one now while ya can.

Of the three, I like the G19 best.
