Good point. With that round though, you may NEED 50 rounds! lol
5.7 is good for body armor, but from what I know, it's not all that great for terminal balistics. I could be wrong though.

Just put an empty mag shell in and use it as a brass catcher.

If your keeping the piston upper idea ... I would probably lean toward the 6.8 spc. Not sure how many piston uppers there are for the other calibers.

If your not concerned with the piston, I would go with either the 6.8 or 6.5, although something like the 50 beowolf would be very interesting.

    .458 SOCOM?
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

You can get a retro-piston system like Osprey Defense's....I don't think they're caliber specific.

The SOCOM would be awesome though

Red face Re: Have Lower, Time to build

Let me put in a plug for the 6.5 Grendel. It's a great cart. that has been a mostly hand loaders round until recently. Hornady is supposed to be helping with the brass problems( price & supply). My wife has had part of her neck fused and can't hunt with an 06 anymore. She's in love with the 6.5G.It has no real recoil and is legal to hunt with in this state. It seems to have enough power,I used it to punch holes in a piece of miner sideboard(1/4" spring steel)at 100 yds. . We have three now and are looking to build another. Just one ole man's opinion, and worth what you paid for it.

It's pretty much the same as .223 in my area.

    S&B.223 in 62grn is $19 per 50
The blue and white boxed 5.7 is $21 per 50

The biggest thing I see is that you are dumping a whole box of 50 every mag, compared to a mag and 2/3 per 50 of .223

    Anyway....
