Assist Sec of Energy married to VP of Glass Company getting Fed Weatherization Grant

Just found out about this, I suppose it could go in National as well, but I figured Pennsylvania was better since the Company is based outside Pittsburgh.

Kathy Zoy is the Assistant Secretary of Energy , tasked with handing out BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars to promote the Obama Administrations " Green Economy " Weatherization Program " You know the one where the Govt is going to caulk everyones leaky homes , offer incentives to replace windows etc .

Robin Scott ( a he ) just so happens to be the Vice President for Policy Affairs for Serious Materials , a company that apparently manufactures high R value windows and recently re opened a shuttered manufacturing plant outside Pittsburgh. Mr Scott was recently granted the honor of introducing President Obama at a Press Conference ( I have NO idea how unusual this is or what the protocols are for a " Joe Everyman , small business official to get this opportunity )

Then Serious Materials opened another recently closed plant in Chicago as part of the jobs stimulus package. Joe Biden made a televised appearance/speech at this facility , singing the praises of the new Green Economy "

Theres only ONE " glass manufacturer " listed on the list of Federal Grants that received taxpayer money under this program , guess who? Serious Materials.


Well guess what ? Robin Scott , the VP for Policy Affairs for this Company receiving Fed Funds is married to .................................................. .......
Kathy Zoy , the Assist Sec of Energy tasked with disbursing those funds ! Nah there couldnt be a conflict there right ?

Now, Kathy Zoy and her defenders act mystified and hurt , " we fully disclosed the relationship during the vetting and appointment process " As if to say, as long as they told everyone , that makes this arrangement just peachy keen

This is a perfect example of the kinds of nepotism that has got to STOP , at ALL levels of Govt. This situation should have been avoided based on nothing more then the mere appearance of impropriety , let alone the actual existance of it !


This ranks right up there with the CEO of GE Jeffrey Imelt( poised to make BILLIONS on green energy ) serving as one of NObama's Economic Advisors.

"My thoughts?" This type of stuff has been going on forever. And on every level of gov. National or local. And by every party. Horrible. At least some PA guys have a job now. Although that really doesn't make me feel too much better about it.
