7.62x25 vs 7.63 Mauser...Same thing?
I have been looking around online and finding various conflicting information about the differences between these two rounds.
They apparently both share the same parent cartridge, but supposedly the 7.62x25 is a hotter round. However, I have seen other information which says the rounds are the same and their performance is difference based on who loaded the ammunition as well as differing barrel lengths of the weapons they are typically fired from.
I know the 7.63 Mauser was already around before the TT30/TT33/TTC was designed and but I have to factor in using captured ammo as a nice bonus instead of using a proprietary round. Is the 7.62x25 truly the same with a looser tolerance or perhaps just differing nomenclature?
Anyway, in all of the confusion, I'm wondering what the ACTUAL difference is between these rounds. I have a Romanian TTC and would like to know if it is safe (and will it function correctly) if chambered with 7.63 Mauser? What about chambering a Mauser based pistol with 7.62x25 (I don't own one so this won't likely be happening)?
I know currently, 7.62x25 surplus is quite a bit cheaper (I don't reload) than 7.63 Mauser, but you never know what you might bump into.

Here's what I came up with:
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.
