meet n greet n picnic
how about a meet n greet at caledonia shooting range sometime this summer? Franklin county people. We could contact the DNR to see if we could reserve the range.. And make it a good old picnic event....

Re: meet n greet n picnic
I just called my friend who's father runs the range and he said to call the DCNR office, but he doesn't think that we can reserve the range since it is an unsupervised public range. Also, he told me that the funding has been cut for the gun range and that it will probably start going downhill in the next year. DCNR doesn't even have funds to replace the squared off timbers that the backstop used to be built from. Right now it is just a pile of old tires. Maybe we can make this a meet and greet/ upkeep session if DCNR will let us volunteer.

I think that would be a good idea...Maybe you could see what materials the DNR is willing to provide as long as we get a group to do the work........keep the post going , we need to hear from more people in franklin county that use the range though.......

Re: meet n greet n picnic
He says that the problem is that DCNR won't provide the materials anymore due to budget cuts. The materials are basically squared off timbers. Right now the backstop consists of tires piled up in front of a hill and slightly backfilled. If we can get a few people interested in helping out, I will call DCNR and see what I can do. If they won't provide the materials, maybe we can start a fund to buy some RR ties.
