Default Can you buy a pistol on-line?

Can you buy a pistol online in PA? Is it legal? And how does this process work? Do you get it shipped to a gunstore and they will charge you a transfer fee?

    Thanks!

Yes, you can buy a pistol online. Upon receiving payment and having received confirmation from your FFL dealer, they will ship it to that same dealer. They will not ship it to your home. The dealer will charge you an FFL transfer fee ranging from $25-$50 (some charge more, but if so, I would suggest you look elsewhere).

I bought my AR-15 from budsgunshop.com got an excellent deal. I had it shipped to Tanners address below. The charge was $40 and its a good distance from delco (around 1 hour ride) but i like them and have purchased from them in the past.

Just to be clear (and to discourage the anti-gun lurkers who are always looking for something about which to be horrified), that on-line gun purchase is handled exactly the same as a sale by the dealer to you from his inventory or from any special order. It comes into his shop, goes onto the dealer's bound book, and you'll have to be approved by PICS before you can take possession.

It is NOT a way to obtain firearms if you wouldn't otherwise be able to legally obtain firearms. It's not a loophole. It's just a way to find an out-of-production gun, or to find one with exactly the features you want. When you add in shipping costs, and the dealer's fee, it's rare to get a smoking deal on a generic gun.
