Bushmaster Announces ACR availability!
Just got an email from Bushmaster in my "Junk mail" box, saying the ACR is finally being released, and they had a date of 3/1/2010, as well as a link to the product announcement page!

What do you guys think?

What do I think?
Yawn.
Will the U.S. Military eventually adopt a replacement for the Stoner platform? Yes.
Will I? Don't hold your breath.

I'd like to see more technical info about it on their web site. Typical marketing crap - all Flash (no pun intended) with nothing of substance.

Re: Bushmaster Announces ACR availability!
I would buy it.
But it'll likely be more expensive then buying AR with gas piston system and full rail forearm...Audemus jura nostra defendere

What does it do better than other current ARs? I'd also venture a guess and say it is over $2500. In my cursory examination it looks like an FN SCAR with metal bits.

Re: Bushmaster Announces ACR availability!
Ambi-controlls for everything, folding and adjustable buttstock, piston driven (not necessarily "better", but different), etc. Some also say the polymer skin may be able to withstand more abuse than traditional aluminum frame (different failure modes, etc.).
Again, not necessarily because it's "better" than a regular AR, just different.
I hope it's not as expensive as a SCAR... they're nice, but not $2500 nice, esp when you can get a nice Colt (for example) for just over a grand.

Re: Bushmaster Announces ACR availability!
i saw on AR15.com that msrp on the ACR will be in the neigborhood of $2700. if that amount is correct count me out i could see dropping 1500 but no way can i see coughing up 2700.

Re: Bushmaster Announces ACR availability!
I think the ACR is pretty sexy myself, and it looks like a pretty functional rig, however, if the price range is in the $2,700 mark, then it's going to be nothing more then a rich mans gun.
