Engraving -- Who and How much?
I got my tax stamps back for my mp5, mp5K and a AR15 (form 1) and had planned on taking them to a local (Lancaster, PA) engraver. Upon meeting with them about what I would like to have done, I started to question their price and understanding. The price they quote me was $100 each and could go up depending on how much work was involved in creating a jig for each.
So the quesiton I have is what are your suggestions for who else I could have engrave my guns? If they are in PA great if not I'm willing to send them away. Also what is the appropriate price I should figure on paying?
I don't want to be cheap and have some screw it up or be ripped off. Thanks!!!

Re: Engraving -- Who and How much?
$100.00 sounds fair to me for custom engraving work. If they do it with lasers it takes some programming, etc...if they do it with the jig as stated they have to make a template. theres a lot of work for a "one off" piece.

I am having Orion Arms engrave my SBR markings. Its out of state, but was the only engraver that I could find at the time that did SBR markings at a decent price.
I was charged $35 for standard SBR markings plus $14 shipping.Last edited by FJR86; January 18th, 2010 at 01:21 PM.

Does Gerhart's Engraving have a class 2 or 07 license so you can leave an NFA weapon with them?

Re: Engraving -- Who and How much?
I've had Keith at NFAInvestments.com do a GSG-5PK and a stripped AR lower with SBR info. The AR lower was $55 plus shipping. He also re-blacks the engraving to match. I sent mine 1/6/10 and had an email w/tracking info 1/12/10. Just got it today, it looks great!
He is in TX, so your shipping will prob take the most time.
He's on vaction right now, so if he doesnt get back to you thats why.

Re: Engraving -- Who and How much?
I had Orion do both of my lowers and my Havoc. Great job, quick turn around and they also reblacken the engraving. I would not trust someone that has never engraved to do the engraving if you already have the stamp. If the eff it up what would you do?

Re: Engraving -- Who and How much?
Go with Orion Arms. It will cost ya a couple hundred for all the weapons but you will love the work and can know it will be done to ATF Specs!
