Re: $35 Gun Registration?
Did he volunteer to accept your cash and handle it for you?
Maybe it's like that "star registry", where they take your money and pick one of the trillions of invisible stars, attach your name to it, put it in a book, then send a copy to the Library of Congress for that "listed officially with the government" thing. As though the civilization living on the 4th planet orbiting "Sheila H. Leibovitz" is going to accept the renaming....Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

Re: $35 Gun Registration?
Better question, even IF it was true, and even IF it were legal. Why in the name of all that is holy would ANYONE actually voluntarily provide information to the government about what weapons they have and where they are ? Although Florida didnt have Open Carry ( I hear their trying to change that ) , I really liked the fact that FTF transfers of long guns AND pistols between State Residents were completley legal with NO ONE being the wiser.

Re: $35 Gun Registration?
LMAO.
$35 bucks to be self-violated.
I'll bet for another $10, they will store your extra house key and the combination to your gun safe.

Re: $35 Gun Registration?
Let me clarify; this came up during a casual conversation about gun crime. After a day of sitting in court and watching the incredibly, remarkably stupid shit people will do to themselves/their firearms for no gain whatsoever the conversations after revolved around gun crime, how stolen firearms are tracked and whatnot...

Re: $35 Gun Registration?
The Canadian national gun registry has been a total catastrophe. It is so bad that after 12 years there is a bill in Parliament to end the registration of long guns. Our Liberal Party brought gun control in as political opportunism following the Montreal school shooting of 1989. Registration has led to confiscation and created 'paper' criminals (those who did not register or let their licenses lapse). Don't be fooled. Registration does not save lives or solve crimes!

Re: $35 Gun Registration?
Of course you'll have to expect people to sidestep it saying that it's not a "complete" registry, or some other technicality, but in reality there are numerous ways to own a long gun, shotgun or handgun without having them "registered".
Purchased while living elsewhere, inheritance, private sales of long guns and shotguns are the most common.
Some LEO and other officials will be more than happy to "register" them for you but that's contrary to the law as written.
The 'inheritance' clause (I hope I'm not calling it something that it isn't) can be found here:
Title 18, Chapter 61, subchapter A, 6111.2,
(c) Duty of other persons.--Any person who is not a licensed
importer, manufacturer or dealer and who desires to sell or
transfer a firearm to another unlicensed person shall do so only
upon the place of business of a licensed importer, manufacturer,
dealer or county sheriff's office, the latter of whom shall
follow the procedure set forth in this section as if he were the
seller of the firearm. The provisions of this section shall not
apply to transfers between spouses or to transfers between a
parent and child or to transfers between grandparent and
grandchild.
I don't have a short temper, I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

Re: $35 Gun Registration?
From a previous post of mine. The 'inheritance' clause is in 6115, not 6111, but consider...
Here's something that has been bothering me that I'll put up for comment.
Is a formal (FFL) transfer required for estate (inheritance) transfers? I am/was of the opinion that no FFL transfer is required in reading §6115(b)(2) but then §6111(c) implies otherwise.
18 PA CSA
§6115(b)(2) Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit the transfer of a firearm under 20 Pa CS. Ch. 21 (relating to inter*state succession) or by bequest if the individual receiving the firearm is not precluded from owning or possessing a firearm under section 6105
§6111(c) Duty of other persons.--Any person who is not a licensed importer, manufacturer or dealer and who desires to sell or transfer a firearm to another unlicensed person shall do so only upon the place of business of a licensed importer, manufacturer, dealer or county sheriff's office, the latter of whom shall follow the procedure set forth in this section as if he were the seller of the firearm. The provisions of this section shall not apply to transfers between spouses or to transfers between a parent and child or to transfers between grandparent and grandchild.
1 Pa.C.S.A. § 1991 Definitions
The following words and phrases, when used in any statute finally enacted on or after September 1, 1937, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, shall have the meanings given to them in this section:
"Person." Includes a corporation, partnership, limited liability company, business trust, other association, government entity (other than the Commonwealth), estate, trust, foundation or natural person.
GEEZ - even PRNJ has a directed exemption to inheritance transfers. Is PA more stringent than NJ?IANAL
