Small of the back carry?
I would love some feedback from anyone who chooses to carry like this. What holster do you use? What firearm? Can you comfortably drive with a gun against your back? I am exploring a new carry option so all info appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Small of the back carry?
The only time i carry like this is when dressing in a manner in which my shirt will be tucked in (i got rid of all my tuckable holsters years ago), such as wearing a dress shirt/suit jacket...and i use the same holster i use to carry IWB, a bianchi professional with a sig p229.
edit: not too bad to drive withLast edited by CHEMICAL; January 17th, 2010 at 10:20 PM.

Probably 75% of the time, I carry a Ruger LCP in the small-of-the-back in a Crossbreed MiniTuck. It's perfectly comfortable to wear when driving; I barely notice it.

Good way to injure your back if you fall on it.
That said, I never carry there any more, as I have gotten older I can't be comfortable with anything there.

Re: Small of the back carry?
I thought I would like this as an alternate carry option. For me, it was not as comfortable to drive with, and it didn't provide for a quick draw either. My sob carry was a Glock 19. Perhaps I would have had better luck with my G26. A found that a stout belt was necessary to keep the grip from leaning away from my body. I did prefer it over ankle carry.

Re: Small of the back carry?
I switch between 6 and 3 o'clock. I find it to be comfortable with a IWB holster and my S&W M&P .40 Compact. It all depends what I'm wearing, where I'm going, ect. Drivings not bad either, takes a little getting used to but if u slide forward a bit in the seat then u have a space in the back for the gun to sit without rubbing on the seat or into your back.

Re: Small of the back carry?
I have a Fist cross over drivers holster for my CZ75 P-01, it can be tilted for easy access while driving and shifted to the upright position when getting out to walk. Check out the Fist holster site for Model #42, they also include a video on how it is used.

Re: Small of the back carry?
I tried a sob for my g27 fot about two months. Found myself constantly adjusting my pants and belt, and I never really could get comfortable with it.
I did find it to be easy to conceal, but I had to find something esle.
If you've never tried iwb i would suggest it... its a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be. Now i carry at 230 - 3 iwb and i find i am able to carry and conceal a bigger firearm than i thought possible ( FNP 40 )
It comes down to trial and error, then more trial and error and finally, personal preferance. You may end up with a small fortune in holsters, but if you end up carrying more often than you otherwise would, then its worth it. IMORead The 5000 Year Leap
