Default 1911 Type of a Carry Gun

I'm thinking of getting a 1911 type of a carry gun (used) and I'm wondering what people have that they like. I have some other carry guns now, and here are my requirements: 1. Caliber in either a 9mm or .45, 2. Single Action (exposed hammer), 3. Barrel no longer than 4 inches. I liked lycanthropecarriesakimber that i saw at the PFOA shoot at Pitcairn...and now I have a bug up my A$$.

Any thoughts? My price ceiling is $600 used, and prefer to be down around $500 used.

I have a Kimber PRO CDP II it's got a 4" barrel and full size grip will hold 8 rounds in Wilson magazine. I'm very happy with the gun but I would like to see one of the Ed Brown bobtail guns to see if they conceal any better. I do like having an aluminum or alloy frame to lighten the load. Smith has the Scandium Alloy line that's also very lite and they say stronger then aluminum.

I bought mine for $400. It had 400 rounds through it.

I know....I loaded all 400 for the previous owner.

I think Rock Island Armory has a commander sized 1911 that you might like and new its in the price range you mentioned. I think its called the compact....

If you go to m1911.org and hit the forums there you can get pics and user feedback.

If you can find on try a Star PD they are medium sized and should be fairly inexpensive. I shot one and liked it back in the day but no money so no sale

good luck and let us know how the search goes

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Springfield's EMP yet...
