    Default Future Winchesters...

    Rumor has it:

"This is not official but a reliable source from FN "says" that Model 70’s will be made by FN in South Carolina starting in 08 using the original machines from CT and that 1300’s and 94’s will be made by FN in their Portugal plant starting sometime in 09"

I had read this several months ago in a shooting magazine. When I heard the estimated price of them, it really just made me shrug and go, I knew there was a reason I shot Rem 700's. The magazine seemed to believe that the lower down models of the remade model 70's would be to higher standards, but starting price would be around $1200 or so. I can't verify this for sure, because I read it out of a magazine, but that was what they seemed to have information about.

Gun rags always give the MSRP.

The MSRP of the Remington model 700 BDL is $900.
The Mountain Rifle Stainless is $1100.

a MSRP of $1200 is not insane for a Model 70 made in the USA.

That makes sense, they already make the FN SPR, the A1 version is about $1200 for a good deal and it's a Model 70 action with a McMillan stock.

I agree with you buckmark, I'm sure that this is the MSRP, so they will probably be had for cheaper. Although I have noticed that some gun manufactures fluctuate more from the MSRP than others. I don't own any FN's, so I'm not sure what the difference between the MSRP and the "street price" (purchased legally) will actually be. I was not trying to say that it's a bad price or a good price, merely that is what I had read the price would be around. Either way, I'm a bit partial to the Rem 700's, so I believe that I'd rather just stick to them. My father has lots of Winchester model 70's, they're great rifles.
