They all have that same ".300" diameter bore and yet use .308 and .311/.312 projectiles.

Personally I have no problem using "30 cal" bore snakes in a rifle chambered for 7.62X39.
The diameter of the grooves in the rifling for x39 and x54r is 7.92mm. The diameter of the grooves on x51 and 30-06 is 7.82mm

And since this 3 year old thread about which Bore Snake to purchase for 7.62X39 has been resurrected 3 days ago with this comment ....

Your thought of just giving the groove diameter difference pertains to what is what I'm trying to figure out.
GTG for a 30 cal Bore Snake or use something else or just a FWIW?

You said it was "interesting" that different .30 caliber chambered weapons used different diameter bullets but had the same diameter bore at the lands. So I pointed out that the groove diameters are different since that is what the bullet rides in and therefore what determines he proper bullet diameter.

As far as a bore snake goes, they are naturally oversized and squeeze through the rifling to clean it, so I do not believe that extra .1mm is going to make the bore snake useless in an X39 chambered weapon.

In fact, I have personally used a .30 cal boresnake in both AKs and Mosins and have never noticed that the bore snake was "undersized"

It should be the light brown one.
    .22 is green and black.

They work great. But I use them as part of the final cleaning process. With a real brush and patch soaked in solvent going down the bore first. And the snake just finishing off the job. For which I have found no better tool. They get the bore so clean... it looks new after every cleaning.

Plus it saves me the hassle of scrubbing the bore relentlessly with a brush and 10 patches to get it clean. I loosen the fouling up with solvent and the brush. Then run another heavily soaked patch down the bore. Allow it to set, then bore snake it. Which saves a lot of wear and tear brought on by cleaning.
You clean your AK and Mosin?? Shit....
