Default FYI .22LR HK MP5 and 416 bye bye GSG5

    http://www.hk22rimfire.com/

May have to sell the SIG522 for one of these!

Sadly, Umarex probably isn't giving us that long-hoped for STG44/MP44 in .22LR anytme soon.

Not me. I will keep the Sig over a Umarex produced model any day.

I'll wait and see what the "HK" MP5SD looks like to be sure.

No more "Version 1.0" guns for me; I want to see this "HK" MP5SD up close and personal. If it is as nice as an ICS or Classic Army MP5SD, it will be a winner over the GSG's execution of same.

Umarex - being so tight in airsoft - made a genius move licensing the "Colt" trades for their M4 and now the "HK" for their MP5. These are the two hottest selling platforms in airsoft and .22LRs are a natural progression for a 17yr-old airsofter turning 18.

I would be interested to see one in the shop. Might even buy one.

HK can go to hell so far as i'm concerned and i won't be jumping anytime soon to buy their 22 cal version of the MP5 or 416. i'll stick with my GSG5 & colt m4 22 and when I can get one i'll buy the sig522. HK sued the makers of the GSG5 to eliminate the competition plus they sued several other companies that were building clones eventhough they have no intention of ever bringing the hk94, sp89, 93 or 91 to the civilian market. on top of that HK has a reputation for crappy customer service and even police departments have trouble getting replacement parts from HK.

I wonder how the pricing is gonna be? If its fair and the gun is good, I'll get the SD.

    Wellcraft,
It's not HK making the 22's, it is Umarex in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
(The same company you like now!) They are the ones making the HK clones as well as the Colt 22 clones as well. It was my impression that HK sued earlier for copyright infringement, not so as to hold the GSG5 people down. The terms of the settlement were confidential.

As for HK not bringing the HK rifles to market?
HK exported to the USA many, many HK 91, 93, and 94 rifles back in 1980's but were prohibited from doing so after then President Bush (Sr) backed out of a promise made during election campaigns in 88 and endorsed prohibiting over 40 types of imported "assault weapons" after a school shooting in Stockton, CA.

Everytime HK came up with a new variant, the US added that to the list of banned guns for import. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_%26_Koch_G3
    Thanks President Clinton.

Those HK rifles, as far as HK is concerned, are old technology.
The HK G3, in service since the 1950's, was replaced by the HK G36, completing that change over in 1997. That is why there is a flood of G3/HK91/HK51 .308 mags on the market.

I don't have any experience with the parts issues with police departments but, in my experience, HK rifles and pistols are fine weapons. If it weren't for the 1986 machine gun restrictions and the 1989 import bans, I would have had an MP5 by now. The HK MP5 was long considered the "Cadillac" of submachine guns.

As for acquiring a Sig 522? A recent PAFOA discussion comparing the Sig 522 with the Ruger 10/22 was very enlightening. As much as I still recommend the 10/22 as the first semi auto 22, I look forward to adding a Sig 522 to my present herd.

    Thanks,
    Smitty56

I understand all about HK imports prior to the 1989 import ban and i own a SP89, HK93 and 91 and while it may be old technology there's still plenty of folks wanting to buy them which explains why so many companies were making clones. I was referencing the fact that while HK sued several clone manufacturers HK has no plans to reintroduce the SP89, 91, 93, or 94 to the civilian market.

the 10/22 is 100% reliable and there's tons of accessoroes for it but the 10/22 is bland in comparison to the choices available on the market today. the colt, SW, sig 522, GSG5 & GSG AK47 all look so much cooler than the 10/22 and they all have reliable hi cap mags.

    Thanks,

Read around a bit and you'll find plenty of information concerning HK's crappy customer service. HK hasn't offered any worthwhile military style firearm to the civilian market since the end of the 94 AWB. look what companies like steyr, sig and FN have offered since the end of the 94 AWB. The SCAR, FS2000, FNAR, PS90, Sig 556 and AUG. even if uramex is the builder of the new HK 22 cal rifles i'll choose to pass since HK's name will be stamped on them. i'm sure the HK 22's will be a quality firearm but i'd much rather spend my money on companies that are more civilian friendly.

hate to say it but Umarex will more than likely muck up the guns. look at the Colt AR 22. its made by Umarex and its cheap pot metal, and expensive as hell compared to other tacticool 22's.

I'll stick with my GSG5 and my SIG 522.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.
