Any welders in the area? need some help with an AK
Ok, so I have a WASR 1063 AK, I am in the process of debanning. It has had some material removed from the bayonet lug on the gasblock, I basically need someone who can weld to build up that area so i can grind it back into the proper shape for installing a bayonet. It isnt missing very much.
I also have a gastube that I bought that fits a little loose. I need a little bit of weld added to the end of it where it attaches to the rear sight block.
If there are any welders in the area that could help me out I would really appreciate it.
When I have a chance I can post some pics of the parts Im working on, to give a better idea of what im trying to accomplish.

Your on the mark with the Bayo lugs, but welding the back of the GT isint what you want to do. Theirs a cam that swings on a lever and you need this to engage properly for everything to function the way it was designed.
I had this problem om my RPK and fixed it very nicely with a socket and hammer. What you need is a tapered cone to force the end of the GT to fit tighter on the gas block. I found the perfect cone shape inside of a Craftsman socket.
Put the end of the GT into this tapered section and hit the back with the hammer while testing for fit occasionally. The taper will swedge down the inside diameter of the GT and cause it to lock up sooner on the gas block and take up the slack.

Raisedbywolves, thanks for the advice. I measured the inside diameter of the front of both gas tubes and the one that fits loosely is bigger. I will give your method a try and see how it turns out.

I gave it a try, it still fits a little loose. but it is an improvement. A few more wacks with a hammer and I should be good to go.
No welders have replied about the gasblock, c'mon theres gotta be someone in the area that can help me out with this.

I could help, but it would be cheaper for you to buy an intact gun than to drive out here and have me do it. I have to weld mine back to spec, but I just havent got around to it.
BTW, I had to beat the snot out of the GT to get it where I was happy with the fit. Just beat it a little and fit it, then beat some more.

If a mig gun will do the trick I have a mig here and Id do it for ya. I even have pretty much all the other tools that go along with the process ie. grinders and all that happy stuff. Where exactly are you located, if you still need it done? P.S. I am a welder
