Yes, I just read it for the first time

    Yes, I am pissed off.

Most cops I know would be pissed off at this too (and I've been through the police academy!). Of course, I don't know too many city cops with political agendas, or (unfortunate to say the least) any clue of political ramifications of the way they conduct themselves.

When the cop (or anyone with positional authority) stops being "Officer Friendly" and starts being "Big Boss Man" with no consequences, there is much to fear.

The government (and by proxy, its agents) are never to have greater parity than the general public. I have no idea where the philosophy comes from that police should be the only ones with tactical advantages. Most certainly it did not originate with the Constitution nor other documents of our Forefathers.

The worst case scenario is that the people are to have, at minimum, parity with the government. In fact, one could say it implies that it is ok, even preferable, to have citizens with greater parity than their government as far as arms are concerned.

Alas, it really is not so. Why is that?

Why does the general populace not see that if everyone is equivalently armed with firearms, teargas, smoke grenades, body armor, batons etc.; we are actually much safer and more able to defend our homes, neighborhoods, states, and country against all comers?

We have had a nice long stretch of non-tyrants for the most part. But as other threads have shown, there is a lot of corruption out there. Let us not get complacent about the state of our own affairs.
