Re: "Do you have any *OTHER* weapons in the vehicle...?"
I just don't understand why you would feel violated if a cop pulls you over and just wants to know if you have a weapon? If you were a criminal I would see saying no, but if you have a lic and you had your gun I would say yes and here is my lic. What is the big deal?
If you say no and he sees it or finds it I would think your in a lot more trouble.

Re: "Do you have any *OTHER* weapons in the vehicle...?"
The problem to me would the cop wanting to disarm me for "mine and his safety", or disarming me to run it against the lost/stolen database which may not seem like a big issue until an uninformed officer takes "no record found" to mean the gun isn't legal and then takes it.
Also what trouble will you be in if he does end up seeing it after you lied and said no initially(not saying it's a good idea just curious)?Last edited by XD45; January 6th, 2010 at 08:32 AM.

Re: "Do you have any *OTHER* weapons in the vehicle...?"
well I don't see him getting annoyred or disarming you etc depending on why he pulled you over etc.
for what trouble would you be if you lied? well I think he would find things just because you lied I am sure somewhere in the ltcf there is a rule or law that you must let an officer know that you have it if asked and be able to provide lic just like a drivers lic

Re: "Do you have any *OTHER* weapons in the vehicle...?"
You haven't been here long have you? I suggest you take some time, make a big pot of coffee and start reading past threads.
There have been many instances where it starts out with Do you have any weapons in there. Then it escalates to please give it to me for my safety. He then takes it unloads it runs it through the illegal registration system. Then he comes back and tries to force his opinions on you. Then gives your gun back with a warning don't reload it until he is gone.troll Free. It's all in your mind.

Re: "Do you have any *OTHER* weapons in the vehicle...?"
That's great in theory, but I'm assuming that LEOs will usually ask "the question" as soon as they get to you. You're obviously not "free to go" at that point, because you're still being detained in connection with the traffic stop.
What then? Do you think most LEOs are simply going to move on to the next question if you refuse to answer or you give a cute answer like "I don't have any illegal weapons"?
It may be within your rights not to answer, but the issue here is how best to minimize the violation of your rights by further action (getting you out of the car, patting you down, taking your gun, running the serial number, etc.)
Perhaps another good answer to deflect the inquiry (assuming you look the part) would be: "Do I look like someone who would carry a weapon in my car?" Not only may that wrongly be interpreted by the cop as a "no" so he moves on to what's relevant, it is basically also another way of saying "do you have a reasonable suspicion that I'm armed"?Almost a LIB .... ertarian
