    Fixed it for you.

Cool story...especially about the efforts to teach the security about "safety" in a gun-free environment.

Stinks that you're sick, though. Prayers sent that you'll be feeling much better soon....

You do what you do to protect what you have to protect. Good thing that you weren't unconscious and needed X-Rays. I could just imagine the looks on their faces when all of the toys showed on the film.

As well written as any of your finer rants. I owe you rep once my button gets outta the shop.

I'm shocked that your things were not discovered. (And laughing at the fact that they were there under their noses)

You mentioned the ER, but did you go in through the ER? I only ask because that's the ONLY place where they have metal detectors/guards in Pittsburgh hospitals. Come in any other entrance and you could bring an RPG if you tucked it under a trench coat.

I hope you feel better soon.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

no metal detectors in this hospital. and, yes, i went in through the ER entrance. CMC is one of the better hospitals here, but is woefully unsecure. there are three in the city: CMC, Mercy, and Moses Taylor. Mercy, at least, has armed security; there was an incident a few years back, and they decided it was a good idea to have some guys with guns guarding the place. the other two hospitals, not so much. the parking lot for CMC has security cams, but most are broken.

the only security i saw was in the neonatal unit, and it was only electronic security. the babies wore anklets that would sound an alarm if they passed a barrier, like in any retail store. that's about it. i remeber when my daughter was born, being so pissed off that this as the only thing keeping my baby from being another face on an Amber Alert.

they don't really search people going into the ER, unless they came in with LEO. the security team at CMC consists of two or three overweight guys, and a middle aged woman, all of whom carry cuffs and OC spray.
