    Default Cold weather shooting

It was only 15 degrees out and the wind was blowing hard. My fingers were so cold that my trigger felt like it was 30lbs. All and all a good day shooting. My boy (whos only 7) kept up with us and shoot the entire time. I sent him to the car to warm up in between each relay, but he kept strong. What a little trooper. Anyone else been doing any shooting in the cold?

My 18 y/o son and I went out to the state gamelands range near Wexford on Sat. We even dragged the wife along. She fired a few, but that was it. I actually did pretty well! My son has a Glock 21 and I have a Glock 17.

10 of us shot a CMP practice match at PMSC Sunday morning. It was 9 degrees with some wind and snow flakes added in.

i havent gone so far this seson. lst year, the only time i went to public ranges was when it was freezing. it keeps the jackasses and morons away; only the hardcore shooters come out to play.

my brother and me once almost got stuck at a range; the road was just a sheet of ice, and we kept sliding back. eventually, a guy in a truck gave us a push up the rest of the way. i've gone shooting in snow, freezing rain, and sub zero temps. it's nice when the range is empty: no mag limits, no range officers, just me, my gear, and those poor, poor targets.

How else are you supposed to practice for when you need your weapon in the cold? Invasions of home or country do not wait for good weather conditions (ask the Russians).

I was able to get several times in December. I'm now itching to get out again as I want to try out a new hand load in my rifle. But it's been so windy, constant 15 mph with gusts to 40. Might be calm enough tomorrow, I'll see.

One advantage of the cold is that the barrel won't get too hot!
