But it's already been 100 years .... it was adopted by the Army in 1911 which is why its the model of 1911. The design itself is older.

There will be plenty to pick from. Anyone thinking that the old Colts will probably jump in value as well...

    HA! Indeed!

I actually don't have a 1911 in my collection, but a Colt 100th anniversary might be a good start.

For the money Colt will charge on a commemorative, you'll probably be able to find and buy a 1911 manufactured in 1911 for less.

    I bet that's a pretty accurate prediction.

I agree with this also as you can buy a WW1 military issue in avg/fair condition for less then $1,000. Whereas the commem will probably start at $1500.00 before any options.

Everyone and their brother will make one Hell even Magnum research has an ad saying it took 100 years for the 1911 to wear the desert eagle name,
Colt will put one of their hunks of junk out just to ride the fame, and over charge by a ton, I wouldnt wast my money on a rabbid horse but those of you who want to will pay a hefty price for it to be of Colt name, I would buy a Springer or some other company.

It would be nice to see a singer sewing machine commemerative in my opinion.

That would be a good bet.

My guess is it will be gold plated, with some gold plated ammo. Then there will be the mahogany box with a glass top.
