Gander Mountain Lycoming Mall
I didn't expect to be buying a handgun at Gander Mountain. I'd priced it at several local shops $75+ cheaper. Well, that was before I was given a $200 gift card to Gander.
I decided to test their price matching policy on a Springfield XD-40 that they listed for $559.00. I called a local shop and found they had it in stock for $477. Gander price matched it - only removing their 1 year add-on warranty. No loss... $82.00 will cover shipping to Springfield should something go wrong.
Staff was very pleasant and not at all spiteful. Several staff knew of the price match and seemed "proud" of my accomplishment. Hope to be buying from a local shop next time but will give Gander a shot again.
edit: I have an XD-40, not the subcompact model. I considered the sc for so long I can't get it out of my headLast edited by doppelganger; January 3rd, 2010 at 03:37 PM.

Re: Gander Mountain Lycoming Mall
Springfield has a lifetime warranty and they will cover the trip both ways.

Re: Gander Mountain Lycoming Mall
Gander has a price match policy? How does that work? They are at least 100 bucks more then any other place in the area for a comparable gun. Example being the S&W 15-22. They wanted 499 plus tax. I got it out the door for 400 at a local dealer.

Re: Gander Mountain Lycoming Mall
Gabder had a flyer out in last weeks paper touting a Remington VTR 597 .22 for 296.00 I went right out the night I got the paper and guess what...? YEP SOLD OUT, I called other stores, Also SOLD OUT. What did they only have one gun per store? I smell something funny! get me in the store and tell me its sold out!

Re: Gander Mountain Lycoming Mall
I had one in my hands at Muncy Gander, but went with something else. It was gone the next day.

Re: Gander Mountain Lycoming Mall
I don't care if they price match, the holier-than-though attitudes of some of the gun counter guys and the insane ammo prices will keep me from ever buying guns or ammo there. I get treated better by the local gun shops, and get better prices on everything.
