Default Sig 226 or Beretta 92FS. Again.

A few months ago I asked your opinions on both the Sig 226 and Beretta 92FS. I got some mixed reviews but when I tallied them up more of you preffered the Sig. I was actually asking because I had the urge to pick up a Beretta as I already had a nice 226 Navy. Your votes for the Sig quieted my urge for the Beretta only for a short while. Here is a pic of both pistols together. I finally got around to taking the pics and I know around here you dont mention a new gun until you are ready to post pics.

Now having only about 600 rounds through the 92 and a few thousand through the 226 I will make my somewhat educated pick on which one I like better. As far as looks alone I like the Beretta. As far as how well it fits my hand and how natural it feels (to me) also the Beretta. Trigger and trigger pull.....Sig. As for fast double taps and the second shot naturally falling back on target, it was close but the Sig seemed to have a little less felt recoil and fall back on target just a little faster. And for what can I shoot better slow fire at 50 feet or more, its the Sig. I get tighter groups with the Sig at further distances than with the Beretta but it could just be because Im more used to how it shoots. The 92 may start to tighten up the more I shoot it. But what do I want to go shoot right now as Im writting this?? The Beretta. Maybe because its still new to me.

To sum it up, they are both great pistols. Im glad I picked up the Beretta. I knew I would even before I asked for your opinions. As we all know, once we start thinking about it its only a matter of time before one follows us home.

Darn it if that doesn't look like a drumstick propping up the pistols in the second pic...

Oh, yeah...congrats on the Beretta. I knew you'd like it.

I went through this same thing when I bought my first pistol. It was between a 226 and the 92. The Beretta won out solely because I'm left handed and the Beretta is more of a lefty friendly gun.

The safe is right next to the drums. My two favorite things.

Man, if the trigger on a Sig is better than the Beretta, kind of glad I don't own a Beretta. I like my Sig, but its trigger is just awful compared to most guns I own.

Tough choice, they are both good guns. I would of picked the SIG but thats just me. You did right picking the one that YOU liked and fitted you best. Either way you couldn't go wrong.

What do you own otherwise? 1911s? That I can understand.

I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).

It is nice when you have to decide between two firearms and you have the ability to take both. I wish all decisions could be solved by buying both. I actually like the look of the 226 better.

Just a suggestion based on personal experience - my Sig P229 was a pain in the ass to handle and shoot until I got a Hogue wrap-around grip for it. The pistol doesn't slide around anymore, and the recoil is managed easily.

    CDNN has them.
