drop a spent 9mm case on the street

after a recent trip to the range a few 9mm casing fell in my pocket. fastfoward a few days later, was out for dinner and a party in philly. went out for a smoke. as i pull the pack out of my pocket a 9mm case fell out into a grate in the sidewalk. now what? just leave it there and hope nothing will come of it, report to the police? has it happen to you?

Nothing to report. An empty case is not a danger to anyone. I certainly would not lose any sleep about it. Now if you dropped the gun in the grate then you would have something to call the police on.

lol... I was at a bar and went to pull out some cash to buy some beers and a spent casing dropped on on to the bar. I laughed and the bartender just looked at me all weird. lol...

Must have dropped in there while shooting the day before.

i didn't mention that it can be seen. would any of you call the popo if you happen to see spent case(s) on the ground?

probably. might be evidence needed for a crime.

But, the "crime scene" would be so contaminated by then... those shells would be meaningless.

Just go back to the range, grab a bunch of other people's casings and drop em down the same grate.

What do you think would come of it? That they'd trace it back to you?

Do you not watch movies? They will retrieve the casing, fingerprint and DNA it, microscopically look at the primer and head-stamping to determine which registered gun it came from and to whom it is registered. The DNA will match yours when pulled from a mysterious database of DNA where you will hit within 3 seconds.
