    Default s&w N framed 45's

here's a pair of classics. one is a classic, the other is just a chassic series gun.

top guy is a s&w m1917 from 1919. it's been sporterized of sorts. had the lanyard ring removed and the hole plugged, then had the wee polished out of it. and some great honking grip on it. now has the grip from the new one.
but it still functions great and shoots just as well.
the bottom guy is one of the new model 22, model of 1917s smith released awhile back....picked that up when i couldn't find a "real" one. shortly there after i found the other one. this one has a set of poor fitting repro grips. i picked them up for the other one, but they fit this one much better.

this model for some reason just appeals to me.
it was an over flow gun.
m1911 production just was not up to the needed speed to supply everybody that needed a side arm during the great war.
so both colt and smith were put to task to supply the needed arms.
the model 1917 resulted from both firms.
still looking for one of colts version.
if you never tryed it, 45acp from a revolver is good time.

i have a boat load of both moon and half moon clips, but preffer 45auto rims.
these are some of guns that i keep close....thus the "special purpose rounds".

Gorgeous N frames, and in .45 ACP. Ahh the feel of steel and wood with a turny thing that holds the bullets...

yes most people can't understand the roundy thing and keep looking for the mag well.
i have to explain they are in fact not bottom feeders, but are a part of the circle of life.

I havent been as fortunate as you,
But I did luck into this 25-2 a few years ago.
6 1/2" barrel, The thing shoots where you want it to, It is just silly accurate, I doubt I could shoot my model 17s any better~~~Ever !

Love this N framed 45 shooter!

found a pair of stocks for the old guy, that i like. the fit isn't too awful and they feel ok. just need to oil them alittle and hope they darken up a bit.
i like shooting this one, ninety years on and it still puts them where you want them.
i didn't shoot it for the longest time, had the new one to play with. took it out one day for s&g's, and have not had the new one out since....the old one out shoots it.

special purpose rounds in my book means 255 keith SWC loaded to about 1150 FPS for damned near to 2X the factory energy equivalent of hardball. this is done with blue dot and 45 ACP cases, and is very easy to hold onto in a 25-2, but not recommended for the older guns.

    A snubbie 25

I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).

I just had to add my 4 inch 325PD. I'll admit it took some getting used to but now it is as accurate as it gets. It also is a real conversation piece at the range. Everyone who sees it wants to shoot it.
