Default Red Orchestra (game with realistic gunplay)

I just got this. It's a realistic World War 2 first person shooter. And I LOVE the realism in the game.

    • No magazine or clip information, just whether it is heavy or not.
    • Real 3D iron sights.
    • Really hard to hit anything (just like real-life)
    • When bullets are flying past, things get confusing and blurry.
    • You can only get shot once or twice before dying.
    • You have to remember to cycle your bolt or reload the weapon.

It's $10 on the Steam service and it comes with 2 guest passes for friends. And it's quite old so it doesn't require a high-end computer.

If any of you folks get it and want to play, msg me. My handle is "ProLife"

I've had it for awhile, don't play much because it always feels way too stiff for me... Its very, VERY hard to hit anything, even from a foot or 2 away because of the stiffness of the controls. Its very realistic... in that it feels like having a gunfight while drunk. It is a game that could have been executed better, IMHO.

I prefer 'Insurgency' which is a HL2 mod set in Iraq/Afghanistan. Same style of play what with only being able to survive a hit or 2, no ammo indicator and whatnot... its just a far more fluid game in terms of control. You can actually aim & hit things reliably...

Not too bad. I think this mod that achieved retail status is running about 5-6 years old at this point. I think even longer actually...

That game had some pretty awesome controls... a bit of practice and you could put one through a dudes eye at 500yds every time...

Its definitely NOT COD or BF2... you gotta kinda AIM at the BG.

The MGs are quite well done... barrel swaps, realistic reloads. There is/was a USvGerman mod that was in beta last time I checked. Had a 1919 and a BAR, Grease gun etc. Well done, but not stable on some maps.

If you've played Day of Defeat it kind of like that, but much better maps.
