    Default Painting ARs

I will soon have my 3rd AR and one think I have always wanted to do, was customize one with an urban digital camo stencil. Has anyone ever done this on this forum and did you like the results? I have been hesitant because I don't want to ghetto up a perfectly good AR.

Any pictures, or shared experiences would be appreciated.

I'm fond of this design with more of a light gray / gray / black scheme: http://usarmorment.com/extreme-digit...kit-p-357.html

I know someone around here posted a pic of an FN PS90 with a similar scheme and it was sweet.

Not sure if you want to do it yourself or have someone do it for you, but Strapped does this kind of stuff. Talk to him. He says he can do just about any design and color scheme.

If you do paint it post some pics!!

Is anyone else going to be tasked with carrying it? If so, would they object to carrying it based on the color scheme?

that's all you have to answer. If that's where you want to put some $$$ then that's fine.

personally, I would throw some cam on... but only after I had done everything else... i.e., red-dot and magnifier, extra mags and ammo, laser/light, and suppressor with quick mount.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but believe me, it's on the damned list.

I also was going to suggest Strapped.

If I do it, I will want to do it myself. I have powder and ceramic coated in the past so I am well aware of the prep required. I just wasn't sure about the paint types available out there these days. How well does it hold up against CLP and other solvents that it will typically be exposed to. My main concern is that I don't want any sort of rattle can paint. I assumed I would end up buying a small paint gun for the task.

No pics? I'm sure there are some folks on this forum who have done this. After thinking about it a little more last night, I thought that it may be wise to first do this to a gun I'm not quite as concerned about.

I am sure that Strapped would point you into the correct direction to get you started.

I am pretty sure he uses duracoat and when I find the thread I will post it here for you, but I believe he said that duracoat holds up well against CLP and stuff. When I have a little extra money I am going to ask him to do my Mossberg 500 for me in 4 color desert. I'll look for his thread and post it later.

That is the thread I was talking about, but it doesn't go into detail about using CLP or anything, but he seems more than willing to answer questions. He does use duracoat. PM him and ask him your questions about wear and tear.

I still want an AR with a winter camo paint job. I plan on painting it myself but I'll have to practice on some cheapie stock just to make sure I don't suck too much lol
