I wouldn't do it. It's one more gun you need to keep control of during a fight, and if youre carrying 2 quality guns it would be very unlikely for them both to go out on you.

I'd suggest a g26/27 and a g17/19/22/23, so instead of an extra gun you can add on extra interchangeable mags which would be much better in many ways.

it depends on what your main carry gun is in the first place.

me, i carry a Sig P220 with two extra MAGs and my BUG is a S&W m60 .357 mag with an extra 5 round speed strip.

this setup gives me an ultra Reliable main carry gun with 2 reloads and an ultra Reliable BUG with a reload. by that time the fight should be over or i made it to my truck and got the AR-15.

Do you think its normal for an average citizen to carry three firearms on his person? (Unless I misunderstand and the OP is merely discussing purchasing a third carry option, as opposed to carrying all 3 simultaneously.)

Yep - I do carry a Multitool w/ a knife on it but I do not carry a knife as a truely offensive/defensive weapon. I have no training with one so opt not to turn to that avenue as a weapon.

I am straying away from the extra mags because for me I can draw a second weapon as quick or quicker than I can draw out an extra mag.

When I used to carry extra mags, I always had 2 on my person. I see no difference then in carrying 2 BUG's
