Default .22 conversion with larger caliber can

I have a 7.62 sd that I am putting on a savage 10fp (308) and an ar-15, I know you can use the can on both calibers but my question is that I have a .22 conversion for the ar and would it be ok to shoot .22 with the can on? I konw the 22 are dirty etc... but just wanted to make sure before I shot any with it on.

Yea, it'll work. Im not sure if the bigger can will be quieter due to more room for the gas to expand or louder due to bigger caliber. Im running my .22 can on my AR with the .22 conversion and it shoots the same. One thing I did notice is that the action of the AR is way louder than I thought, its louder than the sub-sonics coming out lol.

yeah, it'll work fine, especially with 22s... I use my 223 can with a 22lr conversion, and have several friends that use 9mm subguns cans with 22s... they are surplrisingly quiet.

Imyself use a 45 ACP wet can on a 9mm, its also quiet.

How does the bigger can work out? Ive been thinking about getting one for my 45 so I could use it with the 9mm as well. Is the bigger can as effective as one that is actually meant for that caliber?

Most manufactures will not recomend using a rifle can for 22lr. The excessive build-up of lead can have negative results in the long run

Maybe so but for my can or any other for that matter, I can get a lead disolver that wont harm the baffles.

Thats the key right there. You need to get a can that can be taken apart by the end user WITH OUT aluminum baffles. "the dip" to disolve lead will destroy alum.
stainless is ok, but not alum.
